You will need to include the following material with your completed application:
Fire Inspector/Investigator Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
State of Florida Firefighter II, Certificate of Compliance.
• A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible fire department experience at the rank of a firefighter or above. Experience may be with the South Trail Fire District, or another Emergency Response Organization of similar or larger size and scope, as determined by the District.
• State of Florida Inspector I Certificate.
• Florida State Fire Investigator (must obtain within eighteen months of employment).
• Florida EMT Certification/License (must attain privileges with the District’s Medical Director within 90 days of appointment—external candidate).
• American Heart Association BLS Provider certification.
• Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) within one year prior of application for employment (external candidate).
• Must pass the District’s promotional process (Interview, Written Exam, and Assessment Center). All components must be successfully passed by the candidate, with a minimum of 70%, to be placed on the promotional roster.
• Must hold a valid Florida Driver License, within thirty (30) days of appointment, that allows for operation of District vehicles; Incumbent must be insurable by District’s automobile insurance carrier.
• Must acknowledge that work hours are subject to change based on the District’s operational needs. For example, severe weather, complex incidents, special events, staffing shortages, local, state, or federal declared state of emergencies, and other situations determined by the District.
• Must maintain the minimum requirements of the State of Florida, as specified in F.S. 633.
• After hire, must successfully complete the District’s Recruit Orientation Academy.
• Must be a non-user of tobacco, or tobacco-like products, in accordance with Florida law and District policy.
Candidate Assessment Center Dates:
Application Period Closes January 19, 2023
Inspector/Investigator Interviews – January 24, 2023 and/or January 25, 2023.
Inspector/Investigator Assessment Center Candidate Orientation – February 6, 2023.
Written Exam – February 21, 2023.
Assessment Center Scenarios – March 23 & March 24, 2023:

The District may experience circumstances beyond its control that could impact scheduled promotional testing dates and/or events. The District reserves the right to make any needed schedule changes in the best interest of the overall promotional process. Any component is subject to change provided that all components remain in compliance with Article 37 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Base Annual Compensation - $86,444
Upon Completion of Six Years of Service - Base Compensation - $94,681
Florida State Retirement - Special Risk
