The South Indian River Water Control District is an independent special district created by the Florida Legislature with the duty and authority to provide water management, storm water drainage and road maintenance within the District's boundaries. The District's jurisdiction is comprised of a 12,500 acre area located in Palm Beach County and incorporates approximately 60 miles of canals, 189 miles of roadways. The District is governed by a five (5) member elected Board of Supervisors and has the authority to collect user fees and impose non-advalorem assessments and employs 16 employees. The District is seeking an experienced leader who will ensure the long-term effectiveness and efficiency of the District's infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be of strong character and exhibit a commitment to professionalism and best management practices, will have strong management and leadership skills and the ability to build a culture of trust across the organization and with the community at large. This position requires a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge and skills in a related field commensurate with the position. Five years in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred. The candidate should have a familiarity with the areas of engineering, construction, budgeting, storm water management, and personnel matters.

The Executive Director is responsible for and expected to:

1. Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of District equipment and infrastructure. This includes the hiring of required staff and contractors as well as the acquisition of necessary equipment and supplies.

2. Advise Board of Supervisors of all conditions, adverse or beneficial, that may concern the District.

3. Demonstrate familiarity in management, construction, budgeting, civil engineering, with an understanding of water management principles and concepts.

4. Develop short and long term plans that continue and improve District operations.

5. Develop proposed budgets in conjunction with the District Treasurer and implement budgets as approved by the Board of Supervisors.

6. Maintain relationships with other governments and agencies that affect District operations. Represent the Board on committees, associations, and government councils.

7. Communicate with landowners and landowner organizations within the District.

The salary for the position is to be between $90,000 and $160,000.
